Femtogrid Energy Solutions is a spin-off of Betronic Solutions B.V. (Betronic). Betronic is an independent Amsterdam-based electronics engineering company offering supply chain management and M2M services. Betronic develops electronics-based products – from industrial design to manufacturable end product – for nationally and internationally operating clients. The company's team is highly skilled and has a thorough understanding of the entire product development process, manufacturing outsourcing and Internet services (www.betronic.nl).

In 2007 Betronic was challenged by it's former shareholder Econcern to develop a product concept - based on usage of smart electronics - delivering at least 20% more efficiency for sustainable energy installations in the build environment; A new baby was born; Femtogrid arose in Q4/2007. The product concept was further developed in 2008, a first test-installations was carried out in 2009. The promising results where the closing arguments for Betronic to futher develop the product concept and at the same time formally separate the Femtogrid concept - with associated IP-rights in Femtogrid Energy Solutions B.V., Since September 2010 E2Cleantech1 (www.e2cleantech.com) has joined as private equity investor to further strengthen the company both financially as well as from a strategic cleantech market perspective.
