Wereld Natuur Fonds (WNF) is, amongst other things, stimulating Cleantech Energy Techniques in order to improve the environment in which we all live. In doing so, WNF has set an ambitious goal for the Netherlands: the Netherlands should be ranked in the top 10 of worldwide cleantech countries in 2015. With such a ranking the Netherlands will be able to contribute siginificantly to the reduction of the global CO2 emission. At the moment, the Netherlands is ranked 17th.  

In order to boost the cleantech sector in the Netherlands WNF has introduced a prestigious award: the Cleantech Star Award. Together with 5 other Dutch Cleantech companies Femtogrid was nominated for the Cleantech Star Award 2011.

This prestigious cleantech award was hosted by WNF on the 9th of May in Amsterdam. Topell Energy from the Hague won this award. It has developed a cutting edge process for the production of high value solid bio-fuel from woody biomass. The introduction video of Femtogrid shot for this award can be watched here:
